Jonathan Rodriguez is an emerging percussionist having received his Bachelor's degree at Millikin University in Latin American Studies and Percussion Performance, and holds a Master's degree, also in Percussion Performance, from the University of New Mexico.

He has won numerous awards and competitions for performance and scholarship, and has taught percussion lessons throughout various schools and institutions across the country.

He has recently continued his touring efforts in Europe with the prestigious World Percussion Group, with Eileen & the In-Betweens, a folk/rock band rooted in social activism, across the U.S. and Canada, and Mexico with Wave Trio, a modern jazz group which features two-time Grammy winning artist Adrian Terrazas-Gonzalez (The Mars Volta, T.R.A.M., Transient) on woodwinds.

Now, Rodriguez leads his own group, firmly rooted in the tradition of American jazz. His original compositions further extend the limits of harmony, rhythm and form.

The ensemble takes a step forward with imagination and courage in their approach, which challenges the roles and forms of conventional jazz groups, both in obvious and subtle ways. Rodriguez’ has created an intensified communication of progressive jazz, and a fascinating and airy opening, with great camaraderie and virtuosic interaction.
